Jennie Winhall is a leading UK-based social innovator and service designer.
She combines design thinking and methods with policy and enterprise to develop system-changing solutions to big social issues such as unemployment, chronic disease and an ageing population.
As a founder and former Director of Design and Innovation at Participle Jennie led multi-disciplinary teams through the process of designing and bringing to launch four new social ventures. Together these demonstrate the potential of a new generation of public services built on relationships not transactions:
• Circle - connecting older people to on-demand practical help and new social networks.
• LIFE - helping families in chronic crisis build new lives.
• Backr - a new employment service based on networks between employed and unemployed people
• Wellogram - a wellness service for people with multiple chronic health conditions (in development).
Jennie became an independent consultant in 2013 and works with Foundations, public institutions and corporations making social change in the UK, Denmark and Canada. She teaches design leadership and social innovation across Europe, and regularly mentors social start-ups.
