Allison has a BSc from the University of Alberta, Canada, and a M.A. and PhD in Gerontology from Keele University, Staffordshire.
For the last 8 years Allison has worked in the heart of Central Government – Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit and Cabinet Office – shaping and developing policies around health, social care, ageing and civil society/Big Society.
Allison has also worked at NESTA, the UK’s leading innovation foundation, scoping a programme of work on ageing and innovation. Allison is currently doing a 12 month placement as Head of Strategy and Development at the Royal Voluntary Service, a charity helping older people to remain independent in their communities. She is widely published (see Ageing in Urban Neighbourhoods).
